2009 Nissan GT-R Update

October 24th – Nissan officially reveals the new R36 Nissan Skyline GT-R at the Tokyo Motor Show in Japan. Nissan’s new supercar is loosing the Skyline name and will simply be known as the Nissan GT-R. The new GT-R is destined to race in the GT500 class of the SUPER GT series in Japan for the 2008 season. Four years have past since the Skyline GT-R last competed in Japan’s Super GT series when it won the Championship in 2003.

2009 Nissan GT-R

The Nissan GT-R’s new engine produces 480PS (353kW or 473HP) at 6400rpm and maximum torque of 60kgm (588Nm or 434lb/ft) from 3200 to 5200rpm. An all-new GR6-type dual clutch transmission, with paddle shifting and a Borg Warner six-plate dual clutch is putting the power to the ground.

Suspension is a special Bilstein DampTronic system that utilizes vehicle feedback to provide appropriate damping forces for all driving situations like straight-line sprints, cornering, and braking maneuvers.

Braking on the GT-R features large Brembo full-floating drilled rotors and six-piston front and four-piston rear Brembo calipers. Run-flat tires exclusively designed for the Nissan GT-R offer balance and high grip in all-weather and driving conditions.

2009 Nissan GT-R Interior

The instrument panel surrounds the driver and places gages at a uniform height to minimize head movement when driving at high speeds. A large tachometer with gear display is center-mounted to give the driver instant feedback from the GT-R.

The new Nissan GT-R will start at 7.8 million Yen or about $68,000 USD.
